Student Voice - Pandora's Box or Philosopher's Stone Essay

Understudy Voice - Pandora's Box or Philosopher's Stone - Essay Example From this exploration unmistakably the cutting edge idea of permitting understudy inclusion inside the field of instructing learning is moderately new to UK, however the idea isn't new in different pieces of the world. Regardless of the different late changes made inside UK instructive framework, it is seen that understudies are infrequently approached to partake, in this manner remaining generally unheard, during change forms. To make instruction increasingly delegate, perspectives on the understudies must be tuned in to and given its due significance. Be that as it may, fusing student’s voice doesn't only include changing the consequences of the current instructive frameworks or finding goals to different existing issues. Rather, it manages adjusting forms, techniques through which the understudies can influence the course of instruction. Here the creators accepted that that UK instructive framework ought to be changed to the point that it would work according to the student ’s prerequisites, rather than the understudies modifying themselves to the framework. Such extreme alterations involve changes at practically all levels, including changes inside the essential UK instructive culture, and the connections between understudies, educationists, and the schools, where there must a manner with respect to the educationists and strategy creators to tune in to the understudies. Understudies should essentially be energized with the goal that they are gotten all the more straightforwardly engaged with dynamic procedures identified with their training. The ideas of understudy voice incorporates different exercises that advance conversation, discourse, reflection and exercises on issues that are identified with students alongside its consequences for instructors, school staff and the encompassing society. Frequently this strategy includes strategies like friend support, buddying, and different estimates that advance and permit the students to air their con clusions and achieve different appropriate changes adjustments. Such measures incorporate the arrangement of the making of school understudy chambers, educational committees having understudies as individuals, understudies as individuals from staff arrangement board, scientist understudy and the ventures for ‘child-to-child’ exercises that advance authority among the students, while supporting ‘active citizenship’ through the collaboration of these students in different network based exercises and activities (Futurelab, 2006). In its endeavor to get students’ voice, the UK Government has referenced completely its longing to make a more tweaked type of an instructive framework, where the method of educating would oblige the necessities of the understudies, and not the other path round. This would be particularly useful for

Significance of Emotional and Non-Verbal Signals in IT Workplace NonVerbal Communication: Nonverbal correspondence incorporates different articulations while the speaker speaks with different representatives. Physical instances of nonverbal correspondence incorporate stances, physiological reactions, eye to eye connection, contact, signals just as the method for development. Apparel and support styles both are likewise considered as kinds of the nonverbal correspondence (Davidson, 2004). Nonverbal Signals The manner of speaking: The way of talking is a style or strategy through which the IT speakers express their perspectives about the message. It is also a strategy in which worker searches for the reaction from the audience. Vocally delivered commotions: Spoken correspondence is connected by vocally made clamors which are not seen as a segment of language and to introduce the mindset and sentiments of the moderator in a compelling way. Body motions: A body motion is a change made with a section, particularly with hands, to affirm, communicate and underline the moderators demeanor and expectation. Outward appearances, just as eye development: The moderator's mentality, Intentions, and feelings, are imparted through Facial articulations and eye to eye connection. Speakers face is a fundamental wellspring of sentiments and feelings instances of outward appearances are grin or raised an eyebrow (Furnham Petrova, 2010). Significance of Nonverbal Signals Significance of Emotional Signals People who are sincerely canny without a doubt know their shortcomings and qualities. They are normally fit for advancing themselves just as others likewise in negative conditions. They by and large work in gatherings and in groups and have the authority quality, better administration assets and in addition they can comprehend just as identify their own and the others feelings (McGettigan Scott, 2014). Enthusiastic signs to pass on messages isn't only an objective or intellectual movement, in any case, it additionally incorporates the feelings which are associated with considerations of IT workers. Normally, the interpreter can wander in their perception to decipher laborers conduct inside the IT association. For instance, grin is a passionate nonverbal sign and a wonderful or normal grin help to build up and support associations with representatives and accomplices at the work environment (Kanampiu, 2014). Enthusiastic signs backing to acquire an altruism at the workspace. IT associ ations excellent enthusiastic signs are utilized to perform day by day exchanges with clients and partners. Significance of Non Verbal Communication Data of nonverbal correspondence in IT business is expected in two sections. Managers use the nonverbal correspondence so as to suitably lead various delegates and partners. Colleagues and Colleagues in the IT business, regardless of whether they comprehend the correspondence or not, use nonverbal signs to impart information to individuals outside the IT business regardless of whether they are either the clients, contenders or accomplices in the IT business (Rominiecka, 2008). IT affiliation supervisors and CEO's benefit numerous advantages by finding out about the nonverbal correspondence just as its latent capacity favorable circumstances. Nonverbal correspondence grows the opportunity to interface with partners, contenders, clients and its potential clients through methodologies outside the association (Kashihara, 2014). Specialists who appreciate nonverbal signs can survey what their clients, customers, and associates are genuinely letting them know and remembering the ultimate objective to realize how to more readily addr ess their issues. Supervisors can survey the messages their agents are sending to customers just as to clients and know whether that laborer is hurting or helping the business additionally, delegates can make sense of how to examine the straightforward signs an administrator is sending with a particular ultimate objective to change their conduct moreover (Korczynski, 2003). End In this examination, it has been inferred that the nonverbal correspondence signals are driven in the present IT business. Utilizing pictures and movements supervisors and representatives of IT associations empower underscoring the upsides of nonverbal signs. As the innovation likewise demonstrates that verbal correspondence which is essential for day by day life has gotten less significant. Then again, nonverbal correspondence signals are used by numerous IT enterprises just as they assume a critical job inside IT association to accomplish various advantages. IT representatives can take profit by the viable nonverbal correspondence flags inside their relational connections and professions. References Davidson, C. (2004). The catalog of signs signals. Daughter Cells and Chromosome Number in Mitosis and Meiosis

Daughter cells are cells that result from the division of a single parent cell. They are produced by the division processes of mitosis and meiosis. Cell division is the reproductive mechanism whereby living organisms grow, develop, and produce offspring. At the completion of the mitotic cell cycle, a single cell divides forming two daughter cells. A parent cell undergoing meiosis produces four daughter cells. While mitosis occurs in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms, meiosis occurs in eukaryotic animal cells, plant cells, and fungi. Daughter Cells in Mitosis Mitosis is the stage of the cell cycle that involves the division of the cell nucleus and the separation of chromosomes. The division process is not complete until after cytokinesis, when the cytoplasm is divided and two distinct daughter cells are formed. Prior to mitosis, the cell prepares for division by replicating its DNA and increasing its mass and organelle numbers. Chromosome movement occurs in the different phases of mitosis: ProphaseMetaphaseAnaphaseTelophase During these phases, chromosomes are separated, moved to opposite poles of the cell, and contained within newly formed nuclei. At the end of the division process, duplicated chromosomes are divided equally between two cells. These daughter cells are genetically identical diploid cells that have the same chromosome number and chromosome type. Somatic cells are examples of cells that divide by mitosis. Somatic cells consist of all body cell types, excluding sex cells. The somatic cell chromosome number in humans is 46, while the chromosome number for sex cells is 23. Daughter Cells in Meiosis In organisms that are capable of sexual reproduction, daughter cells are produced by meiosis. Meiosis is a two part division process that produces gametes. The dividing cell goes through prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase twice. At the end of meiosis and cytokinesis, four haploid cells are produced from a single diploid cell. These haploid daughter cells have half the number of chromosomes as the parent cell and are not genetically identical to the parent cell. In sexual reproduction, haploid gametes unite in fertilization and become a diploid zygote. The zygote continues to divide by mitosis and develops into a fully functioning new individual. Daughter Cells and Chromosome Movement How do daughter cells end up with the appropriate number of chromosomes after cell division? The answer to this question involves the spindle apparatus. The spindle apparatus consists of microtubules and proteins that manipulate chromosomes during cell division. Spindle fibers attach to replicated chromosomes, moving and separating them when appropriate. The mitotic and meiotic spindles move chromosomes to opposite cell poles, ensuring that each daughter cell gets the correct number of chromosomes. The spindle also determines the location of the metaphase plate. This centrally localized site becomes the plane on which the cell eventually divides. Daughter Cells and Cytokinesis The final step in the process of cell division occurs in cytokinesis. This process begins during anaphase and ends after telophase in mitosis. In cytokinesis, the dividing cell is split into two daughter cells with the help of the spindle apparatus. Animal Cells In animal cells, the spindle apparatus determines the location of an important structure in the cell division process called the contractile ring. The contractile ring is formed from actin microtubule filaments and proteins, including the motor protein myosin. Myosin contracts the ring of actin filaments forming a deep groove called a cleavage furrow. As the contractile ring continues to contract, it divides the cytoplasm and pinches the cell in two along the cleavage furrow. Plant Cells Plant cells do not contain asters, star-shaped spindle apparatus microtubules, which help determine the site of the cleavage furrow in animal cells. In fact, no cleavage furrow is formed in plant cell cytokinesis. Instead, daughter cells are separated by a cell plate formed by vesicles that are released from Golgi apparatus organelles. The cell plate expands laterally and fuses with the plant cell wall forming a partition between the newly divided daughter cells. As the cell plate matures, it eventually develops into a cell wall. Daughter Chromosomes The chromosomes within daughter cells are termed daughter chromosomes. Daughter chromosomes result from the separation of sister chromatids occuring in anaphase of mitosis and anaphase II of meiosis. Daughter chromosomes develop from the replication of single-stranded chromosomes during the synthesis phase (S phase) of the cell cycle. Following DNA replication, the single-stranded chromosomes become double-stranded chromosomes held together at a region called the centromere. Double-stranded chromosomes are known as sister chromatids. Sister chromatids are eventually separated during the division process and equally distributed among newly formed daughter cells. Each separated chromatid is known as a daughter chromosome. Daughter Cells and Cancer Mitotic cell division is strictly regulated by cells to ensure that any errors are corrected and that cells divide properly with the correct number of chromosomes. Should mistakes occur in cell error checking systems, the resulting daughter cells may divide unevenly. While normal cells produce two daughter cells by mitotic division, cancer cells are distinguished for their ability to produce more than two daughter cells. Three or more daughter cells may develop from dividing cancer cells and these cells are produced at a faster rate than normal cells. Due to the irregular division of cancer cells, daughter cells may also end up with too many or not enough chromosomes. Cancer cells often develop as a result of mutations in genes that control normal cell growth or that function to suppress cancer cell formation. These cells grow uncontrollably, exhausting the nutrients in the surrounding area. Some cancer cells even travel to other locations in the body via the circulatory system or lymphatic system.

The Naturalism Movement, Much Like Its Companion Movement

The Naturalism movement, much like its companion movement of Realism, focuses on depicting life as it is. According to the Norton, Naturalist writers wrote about â€Å"human life as it was shaped by forces beyond human control,† and these forces are deemed to be society, heredity, environment or just bad luck or Fate, mostly within the context of lower classes. Darwin’s theory of evolution and Herbert Spencer’s famous quotation of â€Å"survival of the fittest† are applied into the vernacular surrounding Naturalism as well, adding to its scientific integrity (10). Naturalists aimed to tell their fiction within these scientific outlooks to present a realistic world that may come more â€Å"comprehensible to middle class readers† (11). The Naturalist†¦show more content†¦A good marriage means a superior and acceptable livelihood and reputation. It is, of course, the competition for a mate that fuels this unadulterated hatred. After the betrayal has been revealed Mrs. Ansley â€Å"met the challenge with an unexpected composure† (834). Stephen Crane’s â€Å"The Open Boat,† is m ore overtly pointing to the importance of companionship. The Norton points out the implications of Crane’s story: â€Å"because human beings are exposed to a savage world of chance where death is always imminent, they would do well to learn the art of sympathetic identification with others and how to practice solidarity† (12). Work Motivation and Organizational Behavior †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Work Motivation and Organizational Behavior. Answer: Introduction: Motivation is an essential tool to enhance the productivity of the employee in the organization. The company can be succeeded progressively if the employees of the company are motivated and desperate to accomplish the task effectively. The article gives better understating about the motivation technique of manager. Majorly there are two major factors has been considered by manager to motivate the employees. These factors refers to nourishes and catalysts. Nourishes are the factors which is able to make happy and motivate to the employee (Kultalahti and Viitala, 2014). On the other hand catalysts encourage employees to accomplish the task with full of efficiency within timeframe. It has been evaluated by the article that the efficiency is the biggest tool in the organization to accomplish the task because it is the capable to carry the positive as well as negative change in the organization. Efficiency exposes the degree of success of growth and the stationery state of the organizatio n. Efficiency can be sophisticated as the deployment of the numerous factors such as labor, numerous products and goods, material, machinery equipment, energy and capital property. Job satisfaction, increase productivity, improves learning capacity, efficiency and involvement in the decision making of the employees. It is strength for the motivation techniques. It allows employee to involve in the company with perfection and make them feel that they are the integral part for the company. Job satisfaction is necessary component for staying longer with the company and manger needs to involve in the query and suggestion of the employee with the perfect manner. Along with that employee can be more satisfied if they get good response from their superior authority for accomplishing the task. Performance appraisal rewards and recognition program and promotion are vital component for the job satisfaction. It keeps across the unique qualities of the wage-earners and shows that in what manner these qualities and characteristics can be used in the organization in the way of growth. It will enhance the productivity of the employee and sustain a good environment within an o rganization. It would be the biggest attainment of the manager to show the talent and strength of the employees to complete the task. It has been discussed in this article that manager should not treat their employee in strict manner and should accept the lenient behaviour with employee; it will help to make them clear about the task because it reduces the fear and hesitation of them. Motivation technique can be revealed in the organization by allowing employees it share their views and ideas with the organization. Manager should be attentive with the employee and give proper attention to them carefully. He or she should be appraised them for their better performance, it would be helpful for the employee to get encouraged. Manager of the organization should keep patient while giving understanding about the particular task. Wage-earners should be treated by human being and manager should be liable to concern about the psychological need of wage-earner. Every aspect has two faces which show the positive as well as negative part of particular description. These articles are based on the motivation technique and show the role of the manager in the motivation technique. It describes that the manager can have the positive as well as negative influence over the employees due to motivation technique (Lazaroiu, 2015). Attitude of the manager plays a key role in the motivation technique if the attitude of the manager towards their employee is not good, it will definitely decrease their efficiency to perform efficiently. Along with that it has been evaluated that the unmotivated and lazy employee will not show their interest in the accomplishing the task. It will decrease the cooperation in the management and build the major issues of strikes and demonstrations (Jorgensen, Bice, Unruh, Akehi, Crockett, and McReynolds, 2017). It has been analyzed that rewards and recognition may bring the situation of demonization because when wage earner wou ld be unable to get rewarded, it will bring the situation of covetous with the people or employee who is getting rewarded. Due to that situation the political issues will take place in the organization and internal weakness will be started. It has been stated by Nuttin, (2014), there are two kinds of motivation such as financial motivation and non-financial motivation. Financial motivation refers to piece rate quality might suffer as they are demanding to hurry. Non-financial motivation such as suppleness in the job might be the cause of time consuming to amend between the roles. It will enhance the conflicts and stress in team. For instance, if manager of the organization do focus on attaining the task within time frame at any condition without considering the psychological need of the employee, It will bring the team conflicts and stress in the organization and make the negative environment working where every employee criticize the work environment (Uzonna, 2013). According to my viewpoint towards thesis statement, it has been found that the growth of the organization is dependent upon the performance of the employee. It is essential for the manager of the organization to do motivate tier employees towards accomplishing the task with concerning their own demands. A different motivation technique is the major tool which can encourage employee in an adequate manner. I have been gone through the report of Gallup and found that there are so many employees who left their jobs due to job un-satisfaction and harassment during work. As per my viewpoint, communication, individual strength and performance management play a vital role in the management. It is necessary for the manager to enhance the productivity of the employee by intervention in the query and suggestion of the employee and make them feel that they are the valuable asset for the company and tier views and ideas are keep preference in the organization (Guclu and Guney, 2017). It is import ant for the organization to let know to the employee about the vision and mission of the company. It would make easier for them to understand about the company. A strength based culture inspire employee to learn their roles more quickly, create more and significantly better work. I have been analyzing through this article that the efficiency is the essential element for the progress of the employees but the utilization of their efficiency is dependent upon the manager. As per my opinion unhealthy and unfair work environment decrease the productivity of the employee and demoralize employees. There are so many theories which are related to the motivation such as Maslows hierarchy needs, Hertzbergs motivator-hygiene theory, goal setting theory reinforcement theory and so many more which can be applied in organization by manager to motivate their employees efficiently (Hanus and Fox, 2015). I do agree with the thesis statement of the article because it has been observed that the motivation techniques play a vital role to accomplish the task with time frame with enthusiasm. There are various techniques of motivation which effect employee towards complete the task within timeframe (Onoyase, 2017). It has been analyzed by me that job satisfaction is essential for the management, it covers the increment in the salary, promotion, provide incentives, and set goals, solicit employment and rewards and recognition programs are efficient to make satisfied them for the job. It will keep employees for a long time and this activity will enhance the reputation of the organization in the view of outsiders. Team performance will be boosted with the help of motivation techniques (Nurmi, Hagger, Haukkala, Arajo-Soares and Hankonen, 2016). My stake points are provided the clarity regarding mission and vision, incentivize and motivate to an individual can be more supportive to the thesis statement because it is my opinion that manager needs to focus individually rather than the team. It has been recommended by me that manager should be clear first about the vision and mission of the company so that the clear understanding can be conveyed forwarded in an appropriate manner. Incentivize program is able to enhance the productivity of an employee because it is the element which is fulfill the psychological need of an individual (Oliver, 2014). Why Napleon Was A Success Essay Essays - Napoleon, French Emperors

Why Napleon Was a Success Essay Napoleon Bonaparte, was born on August 15, 1769 in Ajaccio, Corsica. He had 7 brothers and sisters. His original nationality was Corsican-Italian. He also despised the French. He thought they were oppressors of his native land. His father was a lawyer, and was also anti-French. One reason Napoleon may have been such a conqueror was he was raised in a family of radicals. In 1784 to 1785 Napoleon attended the Ecole Militaire in Paris. That was the place where he received his military training. He studied to be an artillery man and an officer. He finished his training and joined the French army when he was 16 years old. Soon after that his father died, Napoleon was stationed in Paris in 1792. After the French monarchy was overthrown on August 10, 1792, Napoleon decided to make his move up in the ranks. After this, Napoleon started becoming a recognized officer. In 1792 Napoleon was prompted to the rank of captain. In 1793 he was chosen to direct the artillery against the siege in Toulon. He seized ground where he could get his guns in range of the British ships. Soon after that Toulon fell and Napoleon was promoted to the rank of brigadier general. When Napoleon was made commander of the French army in Italy. He defeated four Austrian generals in succession, and each army he fought got bigger and bigger. This forced Austria and its allies to make peace with France. During this campaign the French realized how smart Napoleon was. He developed a tactic that worked very efficiently. He would cut the enemy's army in to two parts, then throw all his force on one side before the other side could rejoin them. This method was extremely effective against the Sardinian troops, because he defeated them five times in 11 days. When Napoleon returned to Paris he receive a huge welcome. He then began thinking of pursuing political power and military power. He wanted to become the next Alexander the Great, so he asked the Directory if he could take a large army to Egypt. That way he could conquer an empire that included Egypt, India, and other middle and far east places. Napoleon came up with a neat idea to accomplish this. If he conquered Egypt, he could attack the English's route to India. He won the battle of the Pyramids in July 1798. But his fleet was destroyed at the Battle of the Nile in Aboukir Bay. So Napoleon decided to invade Syria. The English and Turkish troops in Syria had held up against Napoleon. Napoleon then retreated to Egypt. Then later in July 1799, he defeated 10,000 Turks at Aoukir. He returned to France shortly after. The above are just a few of many examples of why Napoleon was and Outstanding success.

Essay Sample on Emerson #8211; The Father of the American Literary Renaissance

Essay Sample on Emerson #8211; The Father of the American Literary Renaissance Ralph Waldo Emerson, considered the father of the American Literary Renaissance, wrote many essays to ultimately change the societal values surrounding him. In Self Reliance, Emerson conveys his philosophical idea that every individual has their own individual genius speaking universal truths. However this tends to be a hard to achieve with society imposing conformity, traditions, and institutions on society. To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, -that is genius(19). Emerson values individuality and believed that thinking for one’s self and trusting original ideas, help reach a universal truth that will ultimately benefit society as a whole. Thoreau, Whitman, Dickson, and Frederick Douglass, and Hawthorne’s writings all have an â€Å"Emersonian† essence of self-reliance and individual genius by conveying themes of individuality and non-conformity. Similar to Emerson, Thoreau dislikes institutions and promotes non-conformity. He believes the government stands in the way of individuality because the majority, instead of the individual thinker, makes decisions. Thoreau takes Emerson’s â€Å"Self Reliance† philosophy further by becoming an activist while following his conscious or individual thoughts. An example is Thoreau protesting slavery using Civil Disobedience, â€Å"If one HONEST man, in this State of Massachusetts, ceasing to hold slaves, were actually to withdraw from this co partnership, and be locked up in the county jail therefore, it would be the abolition of slavery in America†(9). Thoreau encourages disobeying unjust laws in order to change them. Eventually, he stops paying his poll tax for six years and is imprisoned. Acting as an individual by disobeying unjust laws is what will change the laws. When the individual follows its conscious, or what Emerson would call â€Å"individual genius,â₠¬ the universal truth would be apparent that unjust laws should not be followed. Thoreau refuses to let the system of government define the individual and supports individual genius through individual action and protest against unjust laws. Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman’s poetry contains the same themes of Emerson but writes in a more concrete way opposed to abstract theories. Dickinson writes mainly of the self-reliant, private individual. Many of Dickinson’s poems such as, â€Å"I Died for Beauty† and â€Å"Because I Could Not Stop for Death,† deal with immortality. She views death as private thing that everyone goes through alone, isolating everyone. In contrast, Whitman portrays a more democratic side of the universal self. He differs from Emerson believing that society is inspirational to the individual opposed to drowning out the individual thought. The Poem, â€Å"Song of Myself† says everyone is an individual but differences should not separate everyone. â€Å"My tongue, every atom of my blood, form’d from this soil, this air, Born here of parents born here from parents the same and their parents the same.† Whitman believes the differences between each individu al are not important because the same universe created everyone. However he does realize the importance of not conforming to everyone when saying, â€Å"I harbor for good or bad, I permit to speak at every hazard†(26). Whitman speaks through is individual genius even if what he says is not agreed upon. Ralph Waldo Emerson’s Self Reliance influenced both poets to speak their universal truths through their poetry. Frederick Douglass’ autobiography was not knowingly written with the influence of Emerson but is living proof of the philosophy of self-reliance. Douglass lived a much different life from Emerson, being born into slavery and witnessing humanity being stripped away from fellow slaves. Slaves would be whipped, beaten, and sometimes even shot. After witnessing his own aunt beaten as a young boy, Douglass comes to the realization, more similar Whitman, that everyone shares a universal human nature. This is more democratic compared to Emerson’s more individualistic idea, believing all men are equal. Douglass determined to dedicate his life to the emancipation of all slaves does also compare with Emerson later on in his life. By befriending other boys in his neighborhood, Douglass learns to read and write. He finds this as a necessity to speak universal truths and express his own genius and be credible to others. Douglass compares with Emerson through his actions but differs in the life that he lived. â€Å"Nothing can bring you peace but yourself. Nothing can bring you peace but the triumph of principles†(32). These last two lines from â€Å"Self Reliance† essay represent Emerson’s individualistic concepts. Emerson values the equal individual that is in touch with their universal genius. Thoreau promotes this individuality and non-conformity through civil disobedience. Through poetry, Dickinson and Whitman speak their own genius. Whitman thinks more democratically while Dickinson values the private individual. Fredrick Douglass is proof of finding his own genius and universal truths and uses these concepts to help free himself and fellow slaves of the deprivation of universal humanity that all men deserve. Though these writers may ultimately be trying to convey different messages, all contain the theme of self-reliance and influence of Emerson. Call it what ever you like Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Call it what ever you like - Essay Example Antonio is liked by people and has a good heart. He is able to bring out his emotions very in the court while pleading for mercy from Shylock (Shakespeare, Coleman & Barnes, 23). Shylock is the unsuccessfully character and is resented by everyone. Shylock is a rich man who lends out money to Antonio. However, when he needs his money repaid, Antonio is not in a position to repay and this becomes a major source of conflict between the two friends. In the court scene, Shylock is able to bring out very well mixed emotions and anger. He however, later becomes sympathetic when the case turns again as they had not agreed on how to measure the pound of flesh and blood (Shakespeare, Coleman & Barnes, 23). He is well armed with his knife in court and could not wait to be finally allowed to get his pound of flesh. Shylock can be analyzed as a very inhumane and unfair character as he does not even give Antonio a chance to explain himself, he harbors secret hated for Antonio and would be delighted to destroy him the best way he would (Shakespeare, Coleman & Barnes, 23). The other characters hate shylock as he finds fun and satisfaction oppressing them. Other aspects of the play such as costumes, lighting, props as well as sound were well incorporated and the performance was extemporary good (Shakespeare, Coleman & Barnes, 23). All through the play, the characters were able to capture my attention and create enthusiasm to keep watching. The production was top notch. I have learnt vital lessons from the play and will aim at becoming a better and peace-loving

Ethnography :: Ethnography Reflexivity Anthropology Essays

Ethnography Works Cited Missing Reflexivity has recently been designated as an indicator of postmodernism in anthropological texts. In this context, the practice is attacked as self-indulgent narcissism, but its true scope reaches much further. While some ethnographic texts exhibit an overemphasis on the author, and his position within the work, this is one extreme of the range reflexivity, which also serves as a methodological tool, unincorporated into the writing, and as a means to account for the ethnographers biases and affects on his informants. This entire span of meaning is shown in anthropological research and writings, in varying manners and to different ends. An poignant example of reflexivity in writing is the much critiqued and criticized essay by Renato Rosaldo, â€Å"Grief and a Headhunter’s Rage†, wherein he explores his reactions to and understanding of Ilongot headhunting, as based on his personal experiences with death, or lack thereof. He argues that â€Å"most anthropological studies of death eliminate emotions by assuming the position of the most attached observer,† a precarious position which often leads to â€Å"actual indifference.† (15) He also acknowledges that reflexivity can easily slip into self-absorption, wherein one loses sight of differences which do exist. Despite attacks, by Michaelson and Johnson, that â€Å"Michele’s death gives Renato a newfound sense of ethnographic authority, a sense that he is ‘capable of feeling everything that the Ilongot do,† he never, in fact, makes this claim. (Behar, 171) Rosaldo, after sharing his experience of his wife’s death, and the grief that followed, emphasizes that the â€Å"statement should not lead anyone to derive a universal from somebody else’s personal knowledge.† (15) The author’s own experience does not give him a full understanding of the Ilongot, nor does he claim that it does so, but allows him to understand his informants explanations of headhunting which he had previously dismissed, not equating grief with rage. â€Å"Ilongot anger and [his] own overlap, rather like two circles, partially overlaid and partially separate.† (10) Or, as Marcus states it, â€Å"in any attempt to interpret or explain another cultural subject, a su rplus of difference always remains.† (Marcus, 186) Renato also briefly addresses the question of authority raised by reflexivity, and the admission of one’s shortcomings. What was once accepted as absolute truth is now being questioned, as the ethnographer acknowledges his own subjectivity, and â€Å"with the realization that [the] objects of analysis are also analyzing subjects who critically interrogate ethnographers.

Lawsuit for Call Center Fabulous County, Florida for a sum of money Essay

There was a saying that business is business.   Sustainability of a firm depends upon production and it is always measured by the amount of money earned.   In some cases collectibles are difficult to handle.   In fact it is one of the known business risk – the delivery now and pay later deals.   Too many establishments failed due to laxity on issues such as collection especially in the payments of bad accounts. Collection Committee should send a registered mail to the Call Center Fabulous Country indicating the exact amount of money to be collected including penalties if any.   The committee on collection must also decide the cut-off period if there is no given grace period on payments indicated in the agreement or stipulated in the contract.   Moreover, the agreement must be read thoroughly before initiating a suit so that all angles are carefully studied and properly explored. The committee should know that there are rights to discretion proper to a specific type of businesses.   For instance, a call center provides business transaction globally which mean that any disruption in their services with regards to the services your company provides may cause more damage than the amount being collected.   Upon making a thorough review of the situation and in case that the Call Center Company stated did not respond or make a written reply to the Collection Committee, immediate action on the filing of suit should take place at a small court in a county where the party being sued or where the signing of agreement took place (Balovich, 2006). Legal services is expensive and vary depending on states therefore, the collection committee must try to use all its capabilities in making a collection with the use of proper business ethics.   There could be easy way of handling collection than a lawsuit in fact one of the biggest points to consider before doing so is to ask the following question.   Is the amount being collected proportionate to the expense incurred in litigation?   Aside from money involved, what will be the social costs and consequences of the action?   Filing a case on claims involves time and energy and responsibility of the Collection Committee to handle diligently. Some overdue collection depends largely on how it is done.   There are ways to expedite the collection of payments.   For example, making sure that your contract indicates when is the payment due and to whom you deal with.   Second, indicating clearly that payment is due on a very specific date or writing in the invoice with this clause: penalty will be incurred due to late payments.   Meantime it is also good to request payment in advance (Examiner, 2005). Knowing your clients is also the best strategy in providing solutions to problem in collecting due payments.   It is good to find out where they stand and what their next move is.   Bankruptcy Code indicates in Chapter 11 that â€Å"debtor usually proposes a plan of reorganization to keep its business alive and pay creditors over time (Judiciary).   Overdue payments are also company’s loss even if payments are collected, taking into consideration the cost of money lost through time.   Some business or corporations can seek the help of the court of bankruptcy and it would mean losing the game with them. Part 2: Draft of a sale agreement on the sale of used computer equipment to a Call Center Company   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   A contract is define as a meeting of the mind or mutual understanding of any pursuit; In brief it is a mutual consent.   Therefore, it is good to know the points legally by understanding the cause and effect of the act may it be personal or corporate initiatives.   References on contracts may be applicable but it is always good to consult with an attorney (Balovich, 2006).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Drafting a sale agreement usually includes common terms indicated in the general deed of sale.   However sales agreement on used items may have exemptions like the term â€Å"as is where is basis (VISTEON INC.).†Ã‚   The agreement must be clear that the seller is selling used equipments.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   It is also important to include in the draft the following details:   the correct name of both parties because it is always a foot forward to know whom you are dealing with (Examiner, 2005).   It must also include the complete description of the items including serial numbers of the equipment, the number of pieces and the exact price of that equipment being sold.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The committee chairman had explained that the call center is going to pay your company in four monthly instalments meaning at five hundred dollars a month.   Before doing so, it must be clear how these sums will be collected and if penalty will be charge for late payments. Normally, used items are paid in cash but it is your company’s discretion that they opted for this agreement.   However it is good advice to plan for an advance collection since two months is too much to wait for a two thousand dollar bill.   It is also important to check on the taxes to be paid by selling used equipments and who is going to pay for it before the total amount on the agreement is written.   The tax exemption identification card is listed normally below the buyer’s signature (VISTEON INC.).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   There are also clauses in the contract that must be taken in consideration such as termination of the contract since the agreement includes a two month pay period.   It could be at the disadvantage of the company if the items sold are returned during the pay period because of the other party misuse or negligence.   Much more if a refund would be asked.   These two major risks must be well thought of by the committee before the agreement is drafted.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Terms and conditions of the draft agreement must include a written approval of the committee.   It is also important that details are discussed in meetings before finalizing a draft.   A lot can be taken into consideration through consultation since being new means there are still a lot to learn.   For this reason a complete knowledge of the company policy and history is needed to deal with its customer successfully. Part 3:   Fraud and trespassing or violation of 3 call center employees regarding company rules.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   It is difficult to give evidence on pre-empt unlawful act or an action that did not took place.   For instance verbal information that so and so is trying to steal money by falsifying company invoice.   In fact stealing is a grave crime to be committed voluntarily by an employee.   The only evidence is that they should be caught with the false invoices but according to the situation the three employees got arrested even before they have committed the crime.   In fact the only strong evidence is that they broke into the call center at night.   These employees can be charged of unlawful use of company equipments since they should not be working outside of the schedule the company has intended for them.   However there are also cases that workers get back to work at night but this must be approved by their supervisor as overtime.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Employee’s misbehaviour is dealt first by the human resource department.  Ã‚   There could be major implications on the company’s image due to the immediate arrest of the three call center workers. Sandra Robinson an expert on employee-employer relations and workplace deviance said that even the best employees can be dysfunctional because of poor management   (Keen, 2006).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   It is also important for managers and supervisors that arrest of people without due evidence is tantamount to abuse in human rights of which these workers can file a suit on moral damages to the Fabulous Call Center Company.  Ã‚   All citizens are given due process of law and to inflict others with committing serious crime without solid evidence is also a serious offense.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Moreover, call center operates on a tight security level and they make sure that data are verified accurately before anyone is given access to information (Diaphonics, 2006).   No employees are allowed to enter the premises within the authorize time.   To break into an office at night could seem impossible because of the tight security measures that all call center company enforces.  Ã‚   Just within its perimeter area, at the entrances, or being on the floor, break periods, the lockers and lounges are controlled by the operation and security group.   It is a bit impossible that three people could just break in when in fact modern technology misuse can lead to hardware theft.   There is no use for people to break in since hackers can use wireless technology in committing crimes.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   At any instance, if the employees broke into an office a trespass warning is issued by the police (Tech, 1999).   The human resource department should terminate employment on the basis of not following company rules and office procedures.   However, there are legal basis in doing so.   There is a great deal to settle with labour disputes than dealing with how the controversy occurred.   Management has the right to look further whether someone’s interest is upheld at the expense of others. Part 4:   Outline for a Mortgage Agreement for a purchase of a building.   What is a secured and unsecured debt and what happens in case of default?   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Probably since it is a law firm who is making a purchase through mortgage mean that it is equipped with the legal terminologies and procedure to conduct its transaction.   However the one in charge on the procurement of the bigger building is a project manager who could be better of with building operations than with legal proceedings. Making an outline to assist the project manager could be very helpful but there is a lot of information that could be taken from him because based on his position he knows the project.   He knows whether there will be cost on renovations or building repair and maintenance which will be an additional on cost for the building.   Other costs on building operations may deplete the payment schemes especially if the structure was purchased through a mortgage.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Before making an outline on the mortgage it is important to talk with the project manager first so that the building that is intended to be bought or to be constructed is free from liens and encumbrances.   Basic knowledge on procuring a building for a specific need say an office building is a must. It is important whether the structure is fit for the intended use.   Project managers normally have knowledge of their operations and provide systems for functionality.   They are the key to abate risks that are sometimes encountered in building procurement.   Project managers talents are tested on time and cost management and they are the professional that assist the owner in project delivery which pertains to buildings (Massachusetts, 2004).   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Mortgage agreements includes clauses such as: purchase price and warranties, authorized person to purchase and the person in charge in the mortgage company and its assigns with the proper addresses, definitions of terms, and building warranties (Findlaw, 1999).   Since the money will be lent by a bank it is important to know the cost of money with the law firm cash flow.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   It is important to know the monthly amortization with the principal amount being borrowed and this must be discussed thoroughly how debts will be paid by the Owner.   It is good to think this way since banks usually operates not only on how they are paid but more on how they can foreclose a property.   Determining the cash flow will also guide the buyer how much will be given to secured and unsecured debt.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Alan Barnes a certified debt arbitrator and president of Debt Regret defines in his article that â€Å"secured debt as a debt in which the creditor maintains a security interest in an item or piece of personal property (Barnes, 2005).†Ã‚   As described above banks play in this notion of having an interest on the item being procured. The amount of money lent is collateralized by the property and the drawback to this is when the amount borrowed is not sufficient to buy the building.   That remaining amount can be called unsecured debt.   However, the balance on the purchase of the property is still the responsibility of the buyer.   Unsecured loans can be settled through debt programs successfully therefore much pliable to handle than the secured debt.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Mortgage law varies from one state to another.   It is important that the terms of mortgage indicates profoundly the right of the lender to recover his purchase in case of default in payment and to find out if the lender has interest over the property.   It is also best to calculate and find provisions on how the payments can be made without default.   Initially, expansion means prosperity but managing a bigger family means high risk, transferring into bigger buildings can be a more productive effort but does not always mean more money.   Sometimes it is more on spending on real property which cost can be recovered in a number of years. Oliver Goldsmiths Classic Essay on the Man in Black

Best known for his comic play She Stoops to Conquer and the novel The Vicar of Wakefield, Oliver Goldsmith was also one of the most prominent essayists of the 18th century. The Character of the Man in Black (originally published in the Public Ledger) appears in Goldsmiths most popular essay collection, The Citizen of the World. Though Goldsmith said that the Man in Black was modeled on his father, an Anglican curate, more than one critic has observed that the character bears a striking resemblance to the author: In fact, Goldsmith himself seems to have had difficulty reconciling his philosophic opposition to charity with his own tenderness toward the poor--the conservative with the man of feeling. . . . As foolishly luxurious as Goldsmith may have considered [the Man in Blacks] behavior, he apparently found it natural and almost unavoidable for a man of sentiment.(Richard C. Taylor, Goldsmith as Journalist . Associated University Presses, 1993) After reading The Character of the Man in Black, you may find it worthwhile to compare the essay with Goldsmiths A City Night-Piece and with George Orwells Why Are Beggars Despised? Letter 26: The Character of the Man in Black, With Some Instances of His Inconsistent Conduct To the Same. 1 Though fond of many acquaintances, I desire an intimacy only with a few. The Man in Black, whom I have often mentioned, is one whose friendship I could wish to acquire, because he possesses my esteem. His manners, it is true, are tinctured with some strange inconsistencies; and he may be justly termed a humorist in a nation of humorists. Though he is generous even to profusion, he affects to be thought a prodigy of parsimony and prudence; though his conversation be replete with the most sordid and selfish maxims, his heart is dilated with the most unbounded love. I have known him profess himself a man-hater, while his cheek was glowing with compassion; and, while his looks were softened into pity, I have heard him use the language of the most unbounded ill-nature. Some affect humanity and tenderness, others boast of having such dispositions from nature; but he is the only man I ever knew who seemed ashamed of his natural benevolence. He takes as much pains to hide his feelings, as any hypocrite would to conceal his indifference; but on every unguarded moment the mask drops off, and reveals him to the most superficial observer. 2 In one of our late excursions into the country, happening to discourse upon the provision that was made for the poor in England, he seemed amazed how any of his countrymen could be so foolishly weak as to relieve occasional objects of charity, when the laws had made such ample provision for their support. In every parish-house, says he, the poor are supplied with food, clothes, fire, and a bed to lie on; they want no more, I desire no more myself; yet still they seem discontented. I am surprised at the inactivity of our magistrates in not taking up such vagrants, who are only a weight upon the industrious; I am surprised that the people are found to relieve them, when they must be at the same time sensible that it in some measure encourages idleness, extravagance, and imposture. Were I to advise any man for whom I had the least regard, I would caution him by all means not to be imposed upon by their false pretences; let me assure you, sir, they are imposters, every one of them; and rather merit a prison than relief. 3 He was proceeding in this strain earnestly, to dissuade me from an imprudence of which I am seldom guilty, when an old man, who still had about him the remnants of tattered finery, implored our compassion. He assured us that he was no common beggar, but forced into the shameful profession to support a dying wife and five hungry children. Being prepossessed against such falsehoods, his story had not the least influence upon me; but it was quite otherwise with the Man in Black: I could see it visibly operate upon his countenance, and effectually interrupt his harangue. I could easily perceive, that his heart burned to relieve the five starving children, but he seemed ashamed to discover his weakness to me. While he thus hesitated between compassion and pride, I pretended to look another way, and he seized this opportunity of giving the poor petitioner a piece of silver, bidding him at the same time, in order that I should hear, go work for his bread, and not tease passengers with suc h impertinent falsehoods for the future. 4 As he had fancied himself quite unperceived, he continued, as we proceeded, to rail against beggars with as much animosity as before: he threw in some episodes on his own amazing prudence and economy, with his profound skill in discovering impostors; he explained the manner in which he would deal with beggars, were he a magistrate; hinted at enlarging some of the prisons for their reception, and told two stories of ladies that were robbed by beggarmen. He was beginning a third to the same purpose, when a sailor with a wooden leg once more crossed our walks, desiring our pity, and blessing our limbs. I was for going on without taking any notice, but my friend looking wistfully upon the poor petitioner, bid me stop, and he would show me with how much ease he could at any time detect an impostor. 5 He now, therefore, assumed a look of importance, and in an angry tone began to examine the sailor, demanding in what engagement he was thus disabled and rendered unfit for service. The sailor replied in a tone as angrily as he, that he had been an officer on board a private ship of war, and that he had lost his leg abroad, in defence of those who did nothing at home. At this reply, all my friends importance vanished in a moment; he had not a single question more to ask: he now only studied what method he should take to relieve him unobserved. He had, however, no easy part to act, as he was obliged to preserve the appearance of ill-nature before me, and yet relieve himself by relieving the sailor. Casting, therefore, a furious look upon some bundles of chips which the fellow carried in a string at his back, my friend demanded how he sold his matches; but, not waiting for a reply, desired in a surly tone to have a shillings worth. The sailor seemed at first surprised at his demand, b ut soon recollected himself, and presenting his whole bundle, Here master, says he, take all my cargo, and a blessing into the bargain. 6 It is impossible to describe with what an air of triumph my friend marched off with his new purchase: he assured me that he was firmly of opinion that those fellows must have stolen their goods who could thus afford to sell them for half value. He informed me of several different uses to which those chips might be applied; he expatiated largely upon the savings that would result from lighting candles with a match, instead of thrusting them into the fire. He averred, that he would as soon have parted with a tooth as his money to those vagabonds, unless for some valuable consideration. I cannot tell how long this panegyric upon frugality and matches might have continued, had not his attention been called off by another object more distressful than either of the former. A woman in rags, with one child in her arms, and another on her back, was attempting to sing ballads, but with such a mournful voice that it was difficult to determine whether she was singing or crying. A wretch, who i n the deepest distress still aimed at good-humour, was an object my friend was by no means capable of withstanding: his vivacity and his discourse were instantly interrupted; upon this occasion his very dissimulation had forsaken him. Even in my presence he immediately applied his hands to his pockets, in order to relieve her; but guess his confusion, when he found he had already given away all the money he carried about him to former objects. The misery painted in the womans visage was not half so strongly expressed as the agony in his. He continued to search for some time, but to no purpose, till, at length recollecting himself, with a face of ineffable good-nature, as he had no money, he put into her hands his shillings worth of matches.
